Anne Hathaway reveals she’s a big pothead, dude
The list of celebrities coming out as cannabis users is growing like a weed.
Anne Hathaway appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday, which just so happened to be the unofficial stoner holiday 420. While on the show, Hathaway played a game called “Plead The Fifth.” The game is simple, Cohen asks her three questions, she has to answer two of them, and one she can plead the fifth.
In the very first question, Cohen brings up a rumor about Hathaway being a stoner, and asks her on a scale of one to ten, how big of a stoner is she? Anne smiles, and responds, “I’m not a little one.”
She kind backtracked after that, for fear of getting arrested, or losing her kids.
“But here’s the thing though. I’m a parent and I don’t feel like being arrested, so I’m gonna say zero. I guess I should have just pleaded the fifth on that one,” said Hathaway.

Ten Unexpected Famous Pot Smokers
Everyone knows Snoop Dogg and Woody Harrelson are big-time stoners. And Willie Nelson may have quit smoking pot, but his love of cannabis is far from a secret. But those stoners aren’t alone when it comes to fellow famous people who get high. There are some pretty surprising famous pot smokers out there, here are ten of them.
People who are into country music probably already know Toby Keith likes to get high. He sings about weed quite a bit. He has songs called “Weed with Willy,” and “Wacky Tobaccy.” He sings about his favorite strain Red Hair Sensimilla, in “Wacky Tobaccy,” which makes me think he hasn’t smoked weed since the 1970s, but what do I know?
In 2017, Keith told the cannabis lifestyle magazine Culture, ‘ You could put all [the weed] I’ve smoked in my life in a coffee cup, but any time in the last 15 or 20 years I’ve been around Willie Nelson, I just can’t help it because, hey, you’re with Willie Nelson.’
That’s fair. Keith might be the biggest lightweight of all the famous pot smokers listed, but I give him points for being candid.
Captain Picard gets high every day.
“Two years ago, in Los Angeles, I was examined by a doctor and given a note which gave me legal permission to purchase, from a registered outlet, cannabis-based products, which I was advised might help the ortho-arthritis in both my hands,” Stewart told the Telegraph in 2017 .
Stewart went on to describe how his daily use of cannabis spray and edibles allow him to not use other medicines with more serious side effects. And how he can now make a fist with his hand, which he couldn’t before his cannabis treatment.
His statement was given in support of Oxford University’s cannabis research program.
The only theatre kid to become a famous actress, Anne Hathaway, sort-of admitted to being a big stoner on Watch What Happens Live . Andy Cohen asked Hathaway to rate her stoner-dom on a scale of one to ten, and Hathaway responded, “I’m not a little one.”
She then went on to say she was a parent and didn’t want to get arrested or some such nonsense. But judging by the look in her calm, red eyes, I think we can assume Anne Hathaway is one of the many famous pot smokers.
God smokes weed! Of course, he does. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Morgan Freeman talked about his cannabis use.
“My first wife got me into it many years ago,” Freeman explained. “How do I take it? However it comes! I’ll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it! This movement is really a long time coming, and it’s getting legs—longer legs.”
Knowing he’s not picky about his cannabis consumption methods makes him all the more loveable.
Kristen Bell is a come-to-life Disney princess. So it’s kind of hard to imagine her smoking weed. But she does! On “WTF with Marc Maron” the wholesome star admitted to occasionally getting down with cannabis.
“I like my vape pen quite a bit,” Bell shared. “Weed rules.” Yes, yes it does Kristen.
“Once a week, if I am exhausted and we are about to sit down and watch ‘60 Minutes,’ why not?”
Smoking weed before “60 Minutes,” has to be the most boring use of weed in existence but you do you I guess.
Considering Martha did time in prison because she refused to snitch, and did a show with Snoop Dogg, it shouldn’t come as a surprise she likes to blaze tough. But for some reason, her pot-smoking will never not be amusing.
On 92nd Street Y Talks Andy Cohen asked Stewart if she knew how to roll a joint. Stewart expressed her dismay at a pair of folks she saw blocking traffic and smoking sloppy joints on her way to the talk. And then she answered, “Of course I know how to roll a joint.”
Martha is a bad bitch.
Famous science genius Carl Sagan, who passed away in 1996 in Seattle, was known for his beautiful mind. His love of cannabis is also well-know n, but unexpected by many nonetheless. He challenges the stupid stoner stereotype.
“The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world.” Sagan wrote in an essay.
Yeah, what that guy said.
Andy Richter, Conan O’Brien’s trusty sidekick, is known for being nice and having a dry sense of humor. But the straight man also loves smoking weed. He’s talked about his past as a big-time stoner quite a bit on his podcast Three Questions with Andy Richter . But it seems the funnyman has slowed down his roll in his old age.
I think my weed usage is very typical for a man in his 50’s because the only kind of weed I ever smoke now is someone else’s #happy420day #Vape #doobage #WoodyHarrelson
Yep. Sounds like my dad.
Of all the famous pot smokers, Melissa Ethridge’s solid brand of mom rock seems the least likely to belong to a stoner. But you’d be wrong. The rocker battled breast cancer over a decade ago and discovered that cannabis helped her get through her treatment, and now she’s an advocate.
Not only has she been outspoken about cannabis, but she’s also a cannabis business owner. Her business, Ethridge Farms, was the first to receive a non-retail license in Santa Cruz County, California. She aims to help ease middle-aged women into the cannabis world.
“I’ve got a keen direction toward middle-aged women who are discovering, ‘Hey, I don’t want to take an Ambien every night. I don’t want to have to drink wine every night to relax, because I know those things aren’t good for my body.’” Ethridge told the East Bay Times .
Getting Karen to relax and smoke some goddamn weed is doing god’s work. Thanks, Melissa.
Calling Rick Steves famous is kind of a stretch. As is saying his pot-smoking is unexpected. But seeing as we’re based out of Seattle here at The Sesh , we had to have Seattle’s favorite travel guide!
The way Rick Steves talks about cannabis is like a dad who catches you smoking weed and the punishment is a lecture that lasts hours and bores you to tears and is probably more effective than any harsh punishment could ever be. But despite that, he’s been an advocate for decades, is a board member of NORML, and describes himself as a ‘child-rearing, church-going, pot-smoker.’
There you have it. Celebrities, they’re just like us! High as hell.
