About Blue Dream Seeds

The origin of Blue Dream seeds has a blurred background; however, it’s clear that the original strain has been lost to history. What is known is that the legendary cannabis breeder DJ Short re-worked the original Blue Dream cannabis strain into what we know and love today.

Set in the backdrop of the Redwood Forests of California, Blue Dream strain seeds were created by crossing DJ Shorts renowned Blueberry to a Haze. The result is a sativa-dominant hybrid that’s known to all cannabis enthusiasts worldwide.

Now, Blue Dream seeds are for sale across cannabis seed banks; still, you must do your research to ensure that you’re finding the best Blue Dream seeds available.

Growing Blue Dream Seeds

Now, let’s take a look at how you can grow Blue Dream seeds. For this review, we recommend that you use Blue Dream feminized seeds. By doing so, you’ll guarantee females — every time.

From growing difficulty to resistance to pests, you’ll learn everything you need to know to grow a successful crop with Blue Dream feminized seeds.

Grow Difficulty:

First and foremost, Blue Dream Seeds are perfect for beginners and professionals alike. There’s nothing better than growing award-winning cannabis without breaking a sweat — and Blue Dream seeds provide precisely that.

Whether growing it indoors or outdoors, Blue Dream will perform with a grace that will spoil you. Once you grow Blue Dream, you will be surprised by the difficulty of other cannabis seeds.

However, you’ll want to ensure that your Blue Dream seeds are adequately fed during all stages of growth. One of the best growing tips is that it isn’t as picky as many other cannabis strains, and you can lay the nutrients on heavier than usual.

Optimal Growing Conditions and Climate:

Considering Blue Dream seeds were born and bred in the Mediterranean climate of California, then you’ll want to do your best to mimic these conditions in your grow space.

If grown indoors, then your Blue Dream seeds should enjoy a temperature range of 65 – 85°F. Yet, Blue Dream seeds are hardy, and you can dip above or below this temperature range without issues.

However, just like all cannabis plants, frost is exceptionally harmful to Blue Dream seeds. The same can be said for sweltering temperatures, which will slow down your seeds’ vigor.

If you decide to grow Blue Dream seeds outdoors, then you’re in luck. Blue Dream was bred for the great outdoors, and it will perform exceedingly well as long as it receives abundant sunshine and average temperatures.

If your climate isn’t similar to that of sunny California, then you may need to incorporate a greenhouse or ensure that you plant your Blue Dream seeds outdoors after the last frost occurs.

Flowering Time:

When grown indoors, Blue Dream feminized seeds are ready for a bumper-crop harvest in as little as 8-weeks. However, the average time that Blue Dream takes to flower is 9-weeks. Depending on your phenotype, climate, feeding schedule, and more, your Blue Dream seeds will finish flowering within 9-10-weeks.

Outdoors offers a slight variation because the environment is not as controlled as an indoor grow room. Fluctuation in temperature, the changing of the season, and a variety of other issues may delay the harvest of your crop.

When growing outdoors, expect your harvest to be complete after 9 to 11-weeks of flowering (mid-September to mid-October). As always, when growing cannabis, flowering times are estimations, which means you should always use a microscope or loupe to check on trichomes to determine a harvest date.

Fast flowering times, glorious effects, and massive yields — can it be true? With Blue Dream seeds, you won’t be let down by the final yield count.

When grown indoors, Blue Dream seeds can unload over 400-grams of flower per square meter. That’s a lot for an indoor plant that’s easy to grow. However, once you have your technique honed in, you can push this number closer to 500-grams per square meter.

If growing outdoors, then hold onto your seat because Blue Dream can unleash over 600-grams per plant. However, depending on the size of your Blue Dream, this number can double. Nevertheless, unless you’re growing Blue Dream trees, expect outdoor yields to sit in the 600-gram range.

When you consider Blue Dream’s lineage, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Blue Dream seeds can turn into huge plants. When left to their own devices, Blue Dream seeds can grow above 5-feet without breaking a sweat.

If you’re growing indoors, then it’s essential that you consider Blue Dream’s height potential. Use tried-and-true techniques, such as topping, FIM, and low-stress training to keep your Blue Dream crop in check.

Remember, Blue Dream can double in height once it hits the pre-flowering stage.

When growing in the great outdoors, you can let your Blue Dream seeds branch out naturally. However, if you can’t let your plants reach for the sky, then incorporate height reducing techniques, such as FIM, topping, and LST.

Outdoors, Blue Dream cannabis seeds can blow past 6-feet, so just make sure your neighbors don’t mind.

Resistance to Pests and Mold:

There’s a reason why Blue Dream cannabis seeds are easy to grow. One reason that contributes to Blue Dream’s ease-of-growth is that it’s highly resistant to mold.

Mold is one of the most common problems for indoor and outdoor growers alike. By being resistant, Blue Dream cannabis seeds will help you worry about one less problem in the grow space.

However, Blue Dream seeds are not resistant to spider mites. Spider mites are the bane of all cannabis cultivators, so make sure that you protect your crop from these miniature invaders.

You’ll be beyond impressed by the lush leaves, gorgeous flower structure, and overall appearance of your garden.

Dominant Cannabinoids Found in Blue Dream Seeds:

Thanks to lab-testing, we know that Blue Dream is dominant in THC. Blue Dream tests between 15-24% THC, with 18% being the average.

Dominant Terpenes Found in Blue Dream Seeds:

Blue Dream cannabis seeds are loaded with an incredible array of aromas and flavors. The delicious scent and taste can be narrowed down to three dominant terpenes commonly found in this strain:

Myrcene, pinene, and caryophyllene are the dominant terpenes found in Blue Dream seeds. This amalgamation of terpenes is why Blue Dream buds smell like freshly-baked blueberry muffins coated in a dank layer of pine.

Most users claim that Blue Dream offers an up-front taste of ripe blueberries, vanilla, and even underlying spice.

Effects of Blue Dream:

Blue Dream’s terpene and THC content join forces to create unforgettable effects that will leave your body feeling utterly relaxed while giving your mind a creative boost. Although it’s sativa-dominant, the indica side offers a deep sense of relaxation that isn’t a “day ender.”

Instead, the euphoric effects make Blue Dream perfect for any time — day or night.

Ultimately, Blue Dream is the ultimate cannabis strain to feel as though you’re bathing under the bright California sun. It provides unparalleled levels of relaxation and euphoria that have led many to believe that it’s one of the best cannabis strains of all time.

Medical Properties of Blue Dream:

Blue Dream seeds were initially crafted for medical marijuana use because it offers profound relief from pain, anxiety, and depression. Furthermore, Blue Dream can also be used to increase the appetite, which is ideal for medical patients that are undergoing chemotherapy.

Due to their potent medicinal effects, Blue Dream Feminized Seeds are incredibly popular throughout the world — especially the USA.

Negative Effects of Blue Dream:

Blue Dream seeds can have adverse effects when consumed. The first negative effect of Blue Dream is that many users experience dry mouth. Another negative effect is that it can also leave your eyes feeling dry as well.

Though, these effects are common in most cannabis strains; therefore, they should not be considered determining factors when deciding to purchase Blue Dream seeds online.

Lastly, if you consume too much Blue Dream, you may feel uncomfortable and experience mild levels of paranoia. However, due to Blue Dream’s high potential to lower levels of anxiety, paranoia is not very commonly associated with Blue Dream strain seeds.

Blue Dream Seeds

Blue Dream is a dense, popcorn-like flower with purple and blue hues and light orange hairs. It has a very spicy aroma and physical profile, some would say slightly tropical, making it an extremely pleasant choice to grow from a farmer’s perspective.

Blue Dream’s parents are chill — they’ve been around a long time and are both popular in their own right. Blueberry and Haze are now and have always been considered A-List strains. And for a good reason! They’re consistent and ubiquitous throughout the industry. Many, many growers grab their genetics to grow pure strains and mixes to reach their desired effects. Mad scientists love a robust control group, and these two give them that.

First Parent

Blueberry’s nickname is “Berry Blue,” and its lineage is Purple Thai with Thai. We all know that “purple” alludes to the color of the flower.

Second Parent

The other half of Blue Dream is Haze.

This is a breeze of a plant and will make the new or novice grower sing with joy. The flowering time on this gem is around 10 weeks for indoor systems or late September to early October for outdoor set-ups. The yield is great with around twenty-one ounces per plant, and in order to keep this gal happy indoors, you’ll want to top early as these beauties can grow upwards of 15 feet.

This is my first time growing and I’m impressed! Growing four plants so far and they’re all females. Here’s my latest pic. Can’t wait until I can try them out.

Joe (verified owner) – April 22, 2022

I’ll give a 5th star after I harvest in a few weeks…maybe. I didn’t pop all seeds at once. First 3 only grew 1 and next 3 produced a male. So, 4 out of the 6 turned into beautiful girls. 1 is 2 wks earlier than sisters and will be harvested in About another 2 wks, while other 3 will harvest in About 4 more wks. None have the blue/purple flowers like in pics. Maybe because I’m only using the T5 fixtures. I replaced the florescent bulbs with Led white/blue spectrum during veg And LED Red spectrum during flower. May not look as good as pics, but hopefully will satisfy the mind and body!

All 10 popped and are growing really well. I had 2 replacement packs and they arrived today. Thank you! Bill

Justin (verified owner) – September 16, 2020

2 of 2 seeds popped. One died (my fault) in the seedling stage due to dehydration. The other grew well and I took plenty of clones from her. No blue / purple on this particular pheno/geno. When I eventually flowered her, the lower buds were riddled (RIDDLED!) with seeds at harvest. As I do with all new genetics I kept HST, supercropping, and lollipopping (sans clone harvesting) to the bare minimum – only topping, periodic defoliation of large fan leaves and LST. The top buds were able to avoid as much pollination / hermaphroditism. I grew her next to a Texada Timewarp female (also from PSM) which produced seeds as well, albeit more modestly. Since these two were grown in close proximity I was unable to determine if one (or both) of these plants had herm’d, or if I had carried pollen into the grow area unknowingly. During trimming I had discovered numerous male flowers hidden amongst the BD plant’s female flowers, especially prevalent in the lower buds, but was unable to identify any male flowers in the TT plant. By the time I had discovered these yellow powdery flowers, my clones were already transitioning into their 12/12 light cycle and decided to keep them all. Second time around I grew 4 BD clones from this same momma plant, all of which produced seeds. I grew 2 TT clones from the previous mentioned plant and neither of them produced seeds. NOTE: the 2 TT plants were flowered in a different room from the BD ladies on this run. It’s not entirely objective, but my assumption is that the Blue Dream pheno/geno I cultivated was an inherent herm. The reason I say “pheno/geno” is because it is well documented that environmental factors (particularly high stress environment) can cause cannabis plants to herm – and therefore I am not implying that these girls produced ‘nanners solely due to their genetics. I will say, however, that I run a pretty tight (expensive) ship when it comes to environmental factors. Grown indoors in DWC (GH 3 part + supps + benes) with automated temperature and humidity control in my flowering chambers to maintain ambient temps @ 70-80F (avg. 72.6F) and RH 45-60% (avg. 57.5%) which is monitored extensively at the plant base (avg. 69.9F; RH 56.5%), mid canopy (avg. 77.6F; RH 59.8%), and canopy top (avg. 79.9F; RH 56.2%). In my personal opinion these are close to optimal growing conditions for the vast majority of cannabis cultivars and, with extensive monitoring and automation, large fluctuations in temp and RH are extremely rare. I did have 2 power outages during the first grow. One was only a couple hours long and I deemed the fluctuations to be rather insignificant and occurred entirely during the lights off phase. The other lasted about 8 hours where ambient temperatures averaged in the low to mid 80’s for about 4 hours and power returned about 2 hours in to the beginning of the lights on phase (as to say they only got about 10 hours of light that cycle vs. 12). All this being said, as much as I was frustrated with my little girls getting preggo, overall I wasn’t disappointed with the results. She grew in pretty typical Sativa-dominant fashion: Even the clones that were trained w/ HST, LST, topped, super cropped, and lollipopped reached almost 1.5 meters from the top of the DWC res to the top of the tallest cola(s) before I bent them horizontally to keep the height down and the canopy more even. Multiple leggy off-shoots rather than full dense super stacks. I utilized a ton of HST and supplemental support to keep her prime bud sites in the sweet spots of my ChilLED Growcraft X2 330w LED. The flowering time is on the longer side – at 8 weeks flowering I had only ~1-5% amber trichomes on both runs. On my first run @8 weeks I had already titrated my nutrients down to basically zero so I harvested early (personal opinion) at around week 9. Since she was a mother plant, she was a bit larger than what I normally veg my clones to (I grow for personal use ONLY so I keep my girls small which allow me to cycle different strains and keeps my production times lower). I was able to harvest 119g of quality bud with maybe 20-ish g of seedy larf (most I just froze to make hash). Second run I hit the rez with some MOAB @8 weeks and daaamn, she really filled up. I like to harvest my sativa-dom strains with amber trichomes at ~15-20% with samples taken from sugar leaves of the top colas which I hit right around the 10th week of flower mark. Second run came in much prettier, better smelling. Since I cropped the majority of the larfy lower flowers early, the top buds filled in much thicker and denser. I averaged about 70g (dried) per plant (x4 ~280g). She’s super sticky which made dry trimming a pain in the ass to do solo on the first run. So on the second run I wet trimmed all of the larger buds. I keep my drying room between 55-60% RH so I am not too worried about drying out too quickly. Then after about 14 days I did a final manicure and store them in glass mason jars. I normally give the jars a good shake to move everything around then open them before I go to bed and set the lid off to the side a bit and then shake them again and seal it up when I wake up. Once the humidity drops below 60% when the jar is sealed up for 8+ hours I throw in some 62% Boveda 2-way packs for curing and just open them up to give them a good whiff a couple times a day. Aroma really started to ramp up in the jars after about 30 days for this strain. Kinda sweet, earthy, berry tones. Flavor of the smoke leaves some to be desired in my particular case. The buzz is fizzy, heady, social, but at the same time very forgetful. I gave 4 stars because PSM provided me with some outstanding customer service and I would 100% recommend anyone give them a try, but as far as results go from this grow I would really only give 3/5. Remember these are my results based solely on 1 seed! NOTE: So far 2/2 BD seeds germinated, 2/2 TT seeds germinated, and 3/3 Super Lemon Haze seeds germinated (aka 100% so far 7/7!) that’s pretty damn good considering I was gifted a packet of seeds from a “well known seed bank” by a fellow farmer recently where only 1/3 seeds popped and the beginning growth has been lackluster (maybe I’m just babying her too much since she’s the only one I got!) – Cheers y’all, happy growing.
