There are a good variety of stoner movies out there that show us characters who love to do nothing but smoke weed all day. Sometimes these characters’ unwise choices get them into legal trouble. Other times they fall into really weird circumstances and they have to get out. Other times they….well, I forget.
Fortunately, you don’t have to remember what happened in a good stoner movie (or even what its title was) because we’ve found the best ones and compiled them here. So the next time you’re up for some marijuana-themed cinema, scroll through this list before making a choice. 10. Up in Smoke

Tommy Chong played by Anthony “Man” Stoner is forced to get a job by his parents or he has to go to military school. He ends up hitchhiking and meets a fellow stoner Pedro De Pacas played by Cheech Marin. The two smoke weed, get arrested for doing so, then get released on a technicality. On their hunt for more weed they accidentally get deported to Mexico, then unknowingly smuggle a van made of “fiberweed” to Los Angeles with the police on their tail.
9. Pineapple Express

Seth Rogen plays Dale who likes to smoke weed from time to time. James Franco plays Saul who is his dealer. Dale witnesses a crooked cop murdering a man and accidentally leaves behind a roach with a strain of marijuana called Pineapple Express. The two then go on the run from dangerous drug lords, and it changes their superficial relationship. Danny McBride gets in on the action playing Red and will have you cracking up with lines like, “I used to use this little gun when I was a prostitute.”

There is nothing like watching a bunch of funny celebrities have fun playing themselves. Everyone including Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera and more become desperate because the world is ending. People are getting sucked up into the sky by blue lights. The people who are left behind start making alliances to survive. You will never grow tired of the endless amount of cameos and funny situations.
7. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure

Mix a little sci-fi into your comedy by watching this gem. Bill and Ted travel through time in a telephone booth to get historical figures to help out with their history project. Of course hijinks ensue because the two are complete idiots, and you will be laughing because of it. The duo meet historical figures including Napoleon Bonaparte, Billy the Kid, Socrates, and more. The students end up bringing them back to their present day and they cause a whole lot of trouble.
6. Half Baked

Three friends — Thursgood Jenkins (Dave Chapelle), Scarface (Guillermo Diaz), and Brian (Jim Breuer) — try to bail out their good friend, Kenny (Harland Williams), who is in jail for accidentally killing a diabetic police horse by feeding it junk food. They bail is set at $100,000 so they try to get the money for it by selling weed stolen from a lab. Of course this plan doesn’t go so smoothly and their lives are in danger thanks to a drug lord who doesn’t appreciate the competition. You should watch it at least once for the Bob Saget cameo alone.
5. Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle

Harold played by John Cho leaves his office job for the weekend and hangs out with his stoner friend, Kumar played by Kal Penn. The two good friends get the munchies after smoking and only want one thing after seeing an advertisement. That is of course White Castle! They go to great lengths to get it and run into many people along the way including Neil Patrick Harris who loves women and to party. The most memorable scene has to be Kumar who has a dream about marrying a bag of weed.
4. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Kevin Smith takes his character Silent Bob and Jason Mewes’ character as Jay from Clerks and puts them into their very own adventure. After finding out that their image is being used in an upcoming movie and they try to stop it…or at least get paid off of it! The two get into some crazy situations after they befriend an animal liberation group and more. Fans of Star Wars will also appreciate this movie because of the many references to the sci-fi series.

Smokey played by Chris Tucker and Craig played by Ice Cube are pretty much living the life when they find a dealer’s weed stash. But will they be able to pay the money back that night for it? The two have until 10 p.m. to get $200 before they are truly in deep trouble. Tucker will have you cracking up the whole time and of course you get to hear where the saying “bye Felicia” originated.
2. Dazed and Confused

This high school comedy is directed by Richard Linklater and takes things back to 1976. The movie takes place on the last day of school which involves hazing the future freshmen boys and girls who try to escape. Also star football player, Randall “Pink” Floyd (Jason London) is pressured to sign a pledge to stay off drugs over the summer. However, it’s not all bad. Some of the students, including incoming freshman Mitch Kramer (Wiley Wiggins), go cruising, drink beer, and smoke weed together. Of course Matthew McConaughey is in it playing a man in his twenties that has no problem hanging out with high school students and delivers the gross infamous phrase, “That’s what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.”

You could never go wrong with this classic movie directed and written by the Coen brothers. Watch The Dude played by Jeff Bridges get mistaken as a millionaire, The Big Lebowski. He has to save the millionaire’s kidnapped wife by delivering a ransom, but of course things don’t go so smoothly for the slacker.
