Super A5 by Liberty Health
Super A5 is a hybrid strain that seems to be exclusive to Liberty Health. It maybe Neville’s Haze renamed, but the information is not conclusive. From what I can find (which isn’t much, unfortunately), Super A5 is a cross of Northern Lights (Indica) and Haze (Sativa). The result is a Sativa dominant 75/25 blend.
The particular batch I tried was 20.9% THC and 0.1% CBD. Due to its higher THC level, it doesn’t take much to feel the euphoric effects. As a result, Super A5 is mainly recommended for patients with chronic stress, anxiety, and chronic depression. Other patients have also found relief from restless nights that result from insomnia. If euphoria isn’t your thing, the strain is also beneficial in low doses. It can improve creativity and productivity without clouding up your head space for too long.
Super A5 is also full of terpenes. It has a balance of Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Linalool. Myrcene has anti-inflammatory properties and anti-mutagenic influences. It also acts as an antibiotic and sedative. Caryophyllene, or beta-caryophyllene, unlike other terpenes, has the ability to bind and interact with CB2 receptors. This means it doesn’t cause euphoric feelings, but it provides many of the same benefits of THC, like reducing inflammation. Linalool is anti-microbial, and has sedative & anti-epileptic properties. It can reduce anxiety, and lower depression-like behaviors.
This strain is a heavy hitter. Your mind quickly relaxes, and it is easy to forget about any minor pain and discomforts. I mostly enjoyed Super A5 over the weekend, typically in the evening, before heading out with friends. It was fun and uplifting, but not overwhelming.
I also aim to use each strain while writing a review. I like to really zero in on what I’m feeling, and see how much I am able to focus while medicated. This is important to me so I know what strains I can and cannot use during a work day. With Super A5, only a few puffs and I was blankly starting at my computer screen. Instead, I decided to cook dinner, but realized that may not be a good idea when I grabbed milk to add to my pasta. While I was not “couch locked” and I did not feel the body effects of an Indica, my mind was on a break. I had to step away from the review & dinner, and instead took a break to watch the new Chappelle stand-up. It surprised me that I stayed awake! Must be the Sativa.
Overall, I enjoyed this strain. There is definitely a place and time for its use, but it is a great option to have in my tool kit of wellness. The particular batch I tried was 20.9% THC and 0.1% CBD.
