Thai Seed restaurant offers new option in Bradenton for Thai and Japanese cuisine

The staff at newly opened Thai Seed promises fresh Japanese and Thai cuisine, served with a friendly smile.

The restaurant at 5215 University Parkway, #108, is located in The Market at UTC shopping center, anchored by The Fresh Market and Kohl’s.

Sorn Rochanavibhata is partners in the new venture with Chef Joe and Chef Kay. Several members of Rochanavibhata’s family, including his wife, Gao, also lend a hand at the restaurant.

A native of Thailand, Rochanavibhata moved to Florida in 2011 from Springfield, Va. His background is in restaurant and retail management experience.

“We are bringing authentic Bangkok-Thai cooking to the area,” he said.

The menu for appetizers, salads and soups is evenly split between Thai and Japanese style cuisine, before giving way to a solidly Thai section of Thai entrees, such as stir fried, stir fried noodles, fried rice, and Thai Seed specials. Among the popular special selections: crispy duck for $19.95, snapper for $16.95, pepper steak for $19.95, and crying tiger (8-ounce beef sirloin) for $19.95.

Thai entrees start at $9.95 for lunch and $12.95 for dinner.

Half the menu is dedicated to Japanese offerings, such as nigiri sushi and sashimi, sushi rolls, speciality rolls, and deep fried rolls.

Sides include brown rice, jasmine rise, sushi rice, steamed vegetables and many more.

The dessert menu is unique in a way that combines Thai and Japanese cuisine. Dessert offerings include green tea ice cream, taro pearls in coconut cream, sticky rice with Thai custard and mango sticky rice.

Thai Seed is a full-service restaurant open seven days a week. Lunch is served 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Following lunch, the restaurant closes for 90 minutes, and reopens for dinner 4:30-9 p.m.

Thailand is renown for its tradition of hospitality. No surprise that Rochanavibhata and his staff have set out to provide an atmosphere that is homey and welcoming.

“We will always serve your meal with a smile,” Gao Rochanavibhata said.

Takeout is also available. For more information, call 941-306-5592, or visit www.thaiseedutc.com.
